Fighting Irish Alternate Logo

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a long and storied history of having some of the most iconic logos in sports. Brother Paul Doerr, a Professor at the University in 1930, designed the original logo. It featured an interlocking ND with a shamrock inside it, which has been used as the primary logo ever since.

Since then, several alternate logos have come and gone over time to represent different aspects of Notre Dame's culture or athletics program. One such example is their "Fighting Leprechaun" mascot from 1965-1980, which featured an anthropomorphic leprechaun wearing boxing gloves ready for battle against any opponent who dared challenge them on their home turf at Notre Dame Stadium; this particular logo remains popular amongst many alumni today even though it hasn't been seen officially on uniforms or merchandise for decades now.

More recently, they've adopted two new alternate logos: one featuring an angry-looking leprechaun holding up four fingers to signify both championships won by football teams coached under Lou Holtz (1988 & 1989), as well as another depicting three golden helmets representing each national championship won by Knute Rockne (1924, 1929 & 1930). Both these designs are intended to honor past successes while also giving fans something fresh and exciting to wear when supporting their beloved team during games or other events around campus!
