Hornets Alternate Logo

Sacramento State Hornets fans have a lot to be proud of when it comes to their team’s alternate logo history. Over the years, the school has created several unique and creative designs that have become synonymous with Sacramento State athletics.

The earliest example of an alternative logo for the Hornets dates back to 1988 when they unveiled what would eventually become known as “the claw” design. This iconic look featured three yellow claws surrounding a black hornet head in front of a white circle background; it was used until 1997 and remains popular among alumni today.

In 2007, Sacramento State introduced its second alternative logo – this one featuring two concentric circles that formed an eye-catching shape around another hornet image in blue and gold colors. This design was quickly embraced by students who adopted it as their own symbol for spirit days at games or other events on campus throughout the 2008-2009 academic year before being replaced again in 2011 by yet another new version: The current iteration features five yellow stars encircling a larger golden star with horns protruding from each side — all set against an orange background — which is still widely seen across campus today!

From classic looks like “the claw” to more modern designs such as this most recent one, there is no denying that Sacramento State has always had great taste when it comes to creating memorable logos for its athletic teams over time - making them easily recognizable symbols wherever you go!
