Patriots Alternate Logo

The George Mason Patriots have a long and storied history, and their alternate logo has been an integral part of that legacy. Over the years, the school's athletic programs have featured a variety of different logos in order to represent its spirit and identity. From classic designs to modern updates, each iteration has helped shape what it means to be a Patriot today.

It all started with the original George Mason University seal from 1972-1984 which was used as an alternative logo for athletics until it was replaced by two new designs in 1984: The Green Eagle mascot head (1984-2001) and then The Shield (2001-2012). Both logos were designed to provide a visual representation of GMU’s proud tradition while also giving off more contemporary vibes than the previous design had done previously.

In 2012, however, things changed drastically when they unveiled their current primary logo featuring green letters spelling out “GMU” inside a red shield with white trimming around it—a look that is still seen on many uniforms today! This design wasn't just about aesthetics though; It symbolized unity between students faculty staff alumni & supporters alike by representing each letter G M U as one single entity rather than three separate entities like before.

In 2017 another update came along when they added two stars above "GMU" which are meant to signify excellence & achievement within both academics & athletics at GMU – something we can all strive towards! And last but not least there is also now an additional secondary mark featuring only “Mason” written across the blue ribbon underneath where you will find patriotic colors such as red white blue gold etc… All these pieces together create one cohesive brand identity for our beloved university! So whether you're wearing your favorite jersey or cheering loudly at games make sure to show some love for those iconic marks too because without them none of us would be here celebrating another great season filled with success stories victories championships memories made friends found family forged - Go, Patriots!!
