River Hawks Alternate Logo

As sports fans, we all love our team’s logos and the stories behind them. Today, we will look at the alternate logo history of UMass Lowell River Hawks and how it has evolved.

UMass Lowell adopted an alternate logo in 2002 when they changed their name from University of Massachusetts-Lowell Chiefs to River Hawks. The original design featured a hawk head with its wings spread wide open in front of a blue shield that contained two crossed hockey sticks inside it - representing both athletics and academics at UMass Lowell. This classic design was used until 2011 when a new version was introduced as part of their rebranding effort for the school's athletic program, which included changing colors from navy blue & white to red & gray with black accents. This updated version features an aggressive-looking hawk head surrounded by flames on top while still keeping the same iconic shield symbol underneath, along with some added detail such as stars around its edges plus text reading "Riverhawks" below it all - giving this modern take on traditional emblem more depth than before!

Since then, several other minor tweaks have been made each year, but overall, this is still very much recognizable as being part of UML's identity today, making sure everyone knows who they are rooting for no matter where they go! It is clear that even though times may change, certain aspects like these can remain constant within any organization or team – something many people can appreciate about sports culture everywhere!
