Tigers Alternate Logo
The Tennessee State Tigers have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, but one aspect that often goes overlooked is their alternate logo history. The university has had multiple variations over the years, each with its own unique look and feel. From the classic tiger head to more modern designs, these logos have been used to represent the school's athletics for decades now.
The first iteration of an alternate logo was introduced in 1967 when then-athletic director Bob Woodruff unveiled a new design featuring a white tiger head on top of an orange shield with “TENNESSEE STATE” written across it in black lettering. This design remained unchanged until 1989 when it was replaced by another version that featured two crossed swords behind the same tiger head as before but this time set against a blue background instead of orange.
This particular variation would be used up until 2002 when it too was retired and replaced by yet another stylized take on Tiger mascot imagery – this time featuring three stripes running down either side along with various other elements like stars and shapes all set against an off-white background color scheme. This latest version remains in use today as part of Tennessee State’s official branding efforts both online (website/social media) & offline (apparel).
In addition to these mainstay designs, there are also some lesser-known ones such as those created for special occasions or limited edition apparel releases throughout TSU Athletics' long tenure at NCAA Division I level competition - including everything from throwback uniforms worn during homecoming games or even commemorative patches made available only through select retailers nationwide! Whatever your preference may be though; one thing is certain: The Tennessee State Tigers will always remain true to their roots no matter what form their iconic logo takes next!
