The redwood tree itself was altered to overlap the empty spaces of the Block letter “S.” The entirety of the tree is connected to the inline of the Block letter “S.” For athletic purposes, the tree is in white and is in green for academic use.
Cardinal Alternate Logo
The Stanford Cardinal is one of the most iconic and recognizable college teams in the United States. With its long history, it has gone through many different logos throughout the years. The alternate logo for Stanford Cardinal has seen numerous changes over time, each reflecting a new era or style of play for this storied program.
The first version of an alternate logo was introduced in 1982 when Nike became an official sponsor of Stanford athletics. This design featured a cardinal with wings outstretched on top of a shield that contained “Stanford” written across it; this symbolized strength and power as well as loyalty to their school colors which are cardinal red and white. In 2004, another variation was created featuring two cardinals facing each other with their beaks touching at the center point; this represented unity between players both past and present who have contributed to making Stanford such a successful team over its long history.
In 2014, yet another redesign took place which included three versions: one representing sportsmanship (a handshake between two cardinals), another depicting excellence (a single soaring bird), and finally courage & determination (two birds flying together). These symbols were meant to represent what makes up every great team—the commitment from all individuals involved in order to achieve success no matter how difficult things may seem at times. All these designs have been used by various groups within the university including alumni associations, student organizations, media outlets, etc. They remain popular today even though there haven't been any major updates since then because they capture so much about what makes up the heart behind being part of something bigger than yourself - something like being a part if not THE best collegiate athletic programs around!
