Cardinals Alternate Logo
The Ball State Cardinals have been a staple in NCAA athletics since their founding in 1918. The team is well known for its unique logo, which has undergone several changes over the years to reflect the school’s changing identity. In this blog post, we will explore the history of Ball State’s alternate logos and how they have evolved throughout time.
The first version of what would eventually become the iconic “Cardinal Bird” logo was introduced in 1965 as a way to honor Charles Balthazar Julien Février de La Tour (1754-1830), who served as an officer during Napoleon Bonaparte's campaigns and was later appointed Governor General of Louisiana Territory by President Thomas Jefferson. This original design featured three feathers behind an eagle with wings outstretched above them – all encircled by a laurel wreath bearing his name at its center. While this iteration only lasted for two years before being replaced with something new, it set off a trend that would continue into modern times: introducing alternative logos to represent different aspects or events related to Ball State Athletics or University life more generally speaking!
Over time, various iterations were created including one featuring stars around an outline of Indiana state; another depicting cardinal birds perched atop crossed swords; even one representing both men's basketball teams from the 2005-2007 season – each having their own distinct look but all carrying the same message: pride & unity within our community here at BSU!
Today you can find multiple versions still used today such as those seen on athletic uniforms like baseball caps/jerseys - some are just updated takes on classic designs while others feature completely new elements such as paw prints symbolizing strength & determination or lightning bolts signifying power & speed respectively! Regardless though these variations serve a purpose beyond aesthetic appeal alone - they remind us not only where come from but also where headed next...and together we'll make sure to get there no matter what challenges may face a long way ahead!
