Spartans Alternate Logo
USC Upstate Spartans, also known as the University of South Carolina Upstate, is a Division I college sports team that competes in the Big South Conference. The team's primary logo features a fierce Spartan warrior with a shield and spear, representing strength, courage, and determination. However, the team also has an alternate logo with a unique history.
The alternate logo of USC Upstate Spartans was introduced in 2006 when the university changed its name from the University of South Carolina Spartanburg to the University of South Carolina Upstate. The logo features a bold, interlocking "USC" in blue and green, with a Spartan helmet on top. This logo was designed to represent the unity and pride of the USC Upstate community and the Spartans' strong and resilient spirit.
2014, the alternate logo was updated to include a more modern and sleek design. The new logo still features the interlocking "USC" in blue and green, but the Spartan helmet was replaced with a bold and dynamic Spartan head. This change was made to give the logo a more aggressive and intimidating look, reflecting the fierce competitiveness of the USC Upstate Spartans on the court and field. The USC Upstate community has widely embraced both versions of the alternate logo and has become an integral part of the team's identity.
