Texans Alternate Logo
The Tarleton State Texans have a long and storied history in the NCAA, dating back to their founding in 1899. The school has had multiple logos throughout its lifetime, but one of the most iconic is its alternate logo. This logo features an outline of Texas with a star at the center and two crossed longhorns above it. Its simple yet powerful design has become synonymous with Tarleton State athletics and is seen on everything from jerseys to hats to banners around campus.
The origin story behind this logo dates back to 1924 when students voted for it in an election held by then-athletic director Harry Hines Turner Jr., who wanted something representing his alma mater (Texas A&M) and his adopted home state (Texas). Since then, it’s been used consistently across different sports teams representing Tarleton State University, including football, basketball, and baseball/softball teams, among others!
Over time this alternate logo became even more popular than their primary one due primarily because of how well-known & recognizable it was amongst fans & alumni alike, which helped give them a sense of pride whenever they saw or wore any piece sporting this symbol! Additionally, many other universities began using similar designs for their athletic programs, further strengthening its place within college sports culture today!
Today you can find variations on this classic design everywhere, from official team merchandise like t-shirts & hats to fan-made items like car decals, stickers, etc. All these products help keep alive what has become such an essential part of Texan sports history and NCAA tradition – thanks primarily to those students who chose wisely nearly 100 years ago!!
