Tigers Alternate Logo
The Pacific Tigers have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, dating back to their founding in 1895. Over the years, they have had many different logos representing their school spirit and athletics program. The alternate logo has been an integral part of this tradition since its inception in 1994.
The original alternate logo was designed by former student-athlete Paul Sutermeister as a way to honor the university’s rich heritage while also modernizing it for today’s audiences. It featured two tigers facing each other with one paw raised above their head in triumph, symbolizing victory over adversity on the field or court of competition. This design is still used today as an official mark for all Pacific Tiger sports teams at both NCAA Division I and II levels.
In 2005, another version was introduced featuring three tigers surrounding a shield with “Pacific University Athletics” written across it; this design is commonly referred to as “the triple tiger logo." This new look provided more depth than its predecessor without sacrificing any of its classic elements like bold colors or fierce imagery associated with college athletics programs everywhere—all within NCAA guidelines regarding acceptable marks for collegiate sports teams nationwide.
Today's iteration features four distinct shapes that come together into one unified image: two tigers facing each other atop crossed swords against a backdrop of blue sky and gold stars - symbols that are meant to represent courage under fire during the competition (both literal & figurative). The overall effect is powerful yet subtle – perfect for embodying what makes up being part of something bigger than yourself: team spirit! And though much has changed over time when it comes down to these iconic designs—one thing remains consistent: no matter how you look at them they always evoke feelings of pride among alumni & fans alike!
