Bulldogs Alternate Logo

For many college sports fans, the Fresno State Bulldogs have become a staple in the NCAA. With their iconic logo and mascot, they’ve been able to create an identity that stands out among other teams. But what some may not know is that there was once an alternate logo for the Bulldogs – one which has since been retired but still lives on in history books and fan memories alike.

The original alternate logo featured a more cartoonish bulldog with its tongue sticking out and wearing sunglasses (a nod to California's sunny climate). This design was used from 1999-2003 as part of Fresno State’s branding efforts during those years. The idea behind this new look was to make it more appealing to younger audiences while also maintaining a connection with older alumni who had grown up loving traditional Bulldog imagery over time.

Despite being popular amongst students at first, this version of Fresno State's brand eventually faded away due to a lack of widespread recognition outside the university community or even within it; most people just weren't familiar enough with its existence or meaning so it didn't stand much chance against competitors' logos which were better known by larger audiences nationwide at that time period. As such, after 2003 both versions were retired until 2007 when the current “Victor E” bulldog mascot came into play - giving us all something new yet still recognizable today!
