Minutemen Alternate Logo

The Massachusetts Minutemen are a collegiate sports program steeped in history and tradition. With the school's founding dating back to 1636, it is no surprise that the team has had multiple iterations of logos over its long existence. The first iteration of an alternate logo was introduced in 1975 when designer Bob Rauch created a design featuring two crossed bayonets with "Massachusetts" written above them and "Minuteman" below them all within an oval shape. This symbolized both strength and courage while also paying homage to those who fought during America’s Revolutionary War period as members of “the minutemen." The original version featured blue lettering on a white background but later versions included red lettering on yellow or black backgrounds which were used until 1990 when they switched back to using blue letters again with minor variations being made over time such as adding stars around it or changing up colors slightly here-and-there
