Colonials Alternate Logo
The Robert Morris Colonials are a college sports team with a long and storied history. Over the years, they have had several different logos to represent their teams. In this blog post, we’ll look at the alternate logo history of the Robert Morris Colonials and how it has evolved.
The original logo for the Colonials was created in 1969 when they first began competing as an NCAA Division I program. It featured two swords crossed behind a shield with an eagle on top of it and “Robert Morris” written across its center in large bold letters. This design stayed relatively unchanged until 1984 when new colors were added to give more vibrancy to their brand identity. Royal blue, navy blue, white, and gray became part of their official color scheme from then on!
In 1997, after nearly 30 years of using this same logo design conceptually speaking (though some minor changes were made over time), RMU decided it was time for something fresh: enter “Colonial Bob!” A cartoon-like character who held two crossed swords while wearing colonial-era clothing complete with a tricorne hat – he quickly became one of RMU's most beloved mascots ever since his introduction into popular culture during that year's homecoming game against Duquesne University, where he led cheers alongside other members from both teams' student sections!
The following significant change came about 15 years later when yet another update was needed due to advancements in technology; thus, Colonial Bob 2nd Edition emerged onto the scene featuring updated details such as sharper lines around his body shape/outline plus brighter colors, which gave him even more life than before - all while still maintaining those classic elements like crossed swords & tricorn hat which make him so iconic today amongst fans everywhere!.
Finally, just last year (2020) saw one final tweak being applied by adding lettering underneath Colonial Bob himself reading "RMU" - thus completing what is now considered by many as arguably one of best mascot designs any school could ask for timelessly cool yet modern enough not feel dated or out-of-touch anytime soon either way you look at things...so no matter if you're old school fan cheering them on since day 1 or newer supporter just getting acquainted now; chances are pretty good will be seeing plenty more exciting games ahead thanks primarily due these awesome alternate logos throughout decades past present alike here too!
