Blue Raiders Alternate Logo

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have been an integral part of the Murfreesboro community and beyond since 1911. Throughout its long history, they’ve gone through several logo changes, including alternate logos that often reflect the team’s spirit and heritage.

One of the earliest alternate logos for Middle Tennessee was a shield with “MTB” in block letters over a blue background. This logo was used from 1911 to 1950 as an alternative to their traditional circular logo featuring two crossed swords with wings on either side. The MTB shield is still seen today on many fan apparel items such as t-shirts and hats despite being retired decades ago!

Another popular design among fans is the Raider head mascot which has been around since 1951 when it first appeared in university publications like yearbooks and newspapers. The iconic design features a fierce-looking helmeted knight holding up his sword while riding atop a horse - perfect for representing all things Blue Raider! It has become synonymous with MTSU athletics ever since its introduction nearly 70 years ago; no matter what other designs come along, this one will always remain at the heart of what it means to be part of Team MTSU!

In more recent times, there have also been variations on classic designs such as adding red accents or changing up fonts & colors (e.,g., black & gold). These are meant to give fans something new but still keep them connected to tradition – something that we can all appreciate here at MTSU Athletics!
