Scarlet Knights Alternate Logo
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have a long and storied history, dating back to the late 1800s. The team has had several different logos throughout its time, with many of them reflecting the school’s proud heritage as well as its commitment to excellence in athletics.
One of the earliest alternate logos for Rutgers was created in 1915 when it adopted an image of a knight on horseback carrying a shield bearing three stars and stripes along with two crossed swords behind him. This logo served as an emblem for both athletic teams and student organizations at Rutgers until 1958 when it was replaced by another design featuring two knights on horseback facing each other while holding shields that read “Rutgers University” across them. This logo remained unchanged until 1969 when it underwent slight modifications such as replacing one knight with another wearing armor that bore four stars instead of three.
In 1984, yet another alternate logo was introduced which featured an updated version of the original 1915 design but this time around included more colors and details such as adding banners beneath each star representing various accomplishments achieved by athletes at the university over its history including NCAA championships won by men's basketball (1976) and football (1978). The current iteration is still based on this same design but includes additional elements like full-color graphics depicting scarlet knights riding horses into battle against their opponents alongside bold lettering spelling out “RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS." As one can see from these changes made over time, there has been no shortage of creativity or effort put forth into creating memorable symbols associated with some of college sports' most iconic programs - all thanks to those who take pride in making sure past successes are never forgotten!
