Golden Grizzlies Alternate Logo

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies are a college basketball team with a long and storied history. From their first season in 1969 to today, they have been among the most successful teams in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. Throughout their organization, they have had several alternate logos representing different eras of the program's history.

One of these is known as “the grizzly claw logo,” which was introduced during the 1982-83 season and remained until 1997-98 when it was replaced by another design featuring two crossed swords over a shield with four stars on it (known as “the sword & shield logo). This symbolized strength and honor for players and fans alike while paying homage to Oakland University's rich military heritage; this look lasted from 1998-99 through 2001–02 before being retired.

In 2003, another new design came into play: three golden bears surrounding an interlocking OU lettermark (also known as "the bear paw"). This represented unity between students, faculty members, alumni, and supporters while still retaining some traditional elements, such as gold colors used throughout previous designs; this version stayed active until 2013–14 when it gave way to yet another update – one incorporating more modern features like bolder lines along with brighter shades of yellow/orange/golden hues for greater visibility on jerseys or other apparel items (commonly referred to simply as "the current look").

Overall, there has been no shortage of changes made regarding the Oakland Golden Grizzlies' alternate logos over time. Still, each iteration has done its part in helping build up support around campus - whether through school pride or just general recognition among sports fans!
