Flames Alternate Logo
The Liberty Flames have a long and storied history, stretching back to the school's founding in 1971. Over the years, they have had several different logos representing their athletic teams. Today we'll take a look at some of these alternate logos and how they've evolved over time.
The first logo used by the Flames was introduced in 1976 as part of their transition from NCAA Division II to Division I-A (now known as FBS). It featured an orange flame with two wings on either side that encircled a blue shield containing three stars above it. This logo was used until 1997 when it underwent its first major redesign since its introduction 21 years prior. The new design kept much of what made up the original but added more detail such as shading around each wing and star along with additional lines within them for depth and texture.
In 2006, Liberty released another updated version which further refined this concept by adding more intricate details like flames inside each wing along with larger stars that spanned across both sides of the shield instead of just one side like before. Additionally, this edition also removed any text or lettering from within it so only imagery remained which gave off an even stronger sense of power and strength associated with being part of Flame Nation! The current iteration is largely based on the same design but includes minor tweaks here and there such as brighter colors sharper edges giving an overall look modern touch while still keeping a classic feel intact throughout the entire piece of artwork itself!
Liberty’s alternate logos are iconic symbols not just for university athletics but also for the greater Lynchburg community at large; something all fans can rally behind and support during highs and lows alike no matter what team season may bring us next year beyond!
