Miners Alternate Logo
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners have a long and storied history. From the early days when they were known as the “Texas College of Mines & Metallurgy” to its current status as an NCAA Division I school, UTEP has been proud to represent its home state with distinction. Over the years, many logos have come and gone for this beloved team – some more iconic than others. Today we take a look back at UTEP's alternate logo history!
Back in 1977, during their first season in NCAA Division I play, UTEP unveiled its very first alternate logo: The Miner Man mascot wearing a yellow hard hat with a pickaxe crossed over his chest against an orange background circle design featuring white stars around it - all elements that still remain today within modern iterations of this classic symbol! This original version was used until 1983 when it was replaced by another unique design that featured two miners standing side-by-side holding shovels up high while looking outward from inside an orange diamond shape encircled by white stars on either side; this one lasted until 1994 before being retired once again due make room for updated versions throughout time like those seen between 1995–2000 or 2001–2006 respectively.
In recent years since 2007 however there has been no official “alternate” logo per se but rather just variations on what is now considered to be the primary mark itself - these include both traditional black/white designs along with different colored options such as pink or blue depending upon occasion/seasonal use etcetera…allowing fans everywhere plenty opportunity express their support proudly whether cheering from afar online through social media outlets like Twitter Facebook Instagram etc., attending games live in person stadium style (or even virtual via live streaming services!) alike!
