The Utah Tech Trailblazers have a long and storied history of alternate logos, with each one representing something unique about the team. From their inception in 1979 to the present day, the Trailblazers have had several different iterations of their logo design that are beloved by fans worldwide. For any sports fan interested in learning more about this iconic franchise’s visual identity history, here is a brief overview of some of its most memorable logos.
One popular iteration was known as “the classic,” which featured an orange circle encapsulating two red lines, creating an abstract representation of mountains and valleys—a nod to Utah's beautiful landscape. This version was used from 1980-1984 before being replaced by another classic look featuring a white basketball atop three blue stars on top of red mountain peaks and yellow sun rays behind it—representing both sportiness and regional pride at once! The third edition was adopted in 1988, with purple replacing orange as the primary color palette; this logo included textured stripes above & below the wordmark, plus a shield shape around the letter U inside the starburst pattern. Finally, the fourth variation has been used since 1994: it features bolder colors (blue/red/yellow) and an updated font style much like the current one but without any additional elements such as stars or shields, etc. – just pure simplicity!
