Bobcats Alternate Logo
The Montana State Bobcats have a long and storied history of alternate logos that span nearly 100 years. From the late 1920s to the present day, the Bobcats have had several iterations of their logo that reflect both their athletic prowess and regional pride.
In 1927, MSU adopted its first official team mascot – a bobcat named “Bucky” who was featured in an orange circle with black outlines on the school’s uniforms. This design remained largely unchanged until 1971 when it was updated to include a more modern look with red lettering around Bucky’s head.
In 2000, MSU unveiled its most iconic logo: The Cathead Logo which features an angry-looking bobcat wearing sunglasses and sporting two large whiskers above his mouth in blue and white colors against a yellow background (this is still used today as one of many variations). This version has become synonymous with Montana State athletics over the years due to its unique combination of ferocity and style which perfectly encapsulates what it means to be part of this great university's tradition!
In 2008, another variation on this classic design emerged called “Cat Scratch Fever". It features four claw marks along each side resembling scratches from where Bucky would have been fighting off opponents or foes while also representing strength through unity among students/fans alike at games or other events supporting MSU Athletics programs across all levels (Division I NCAA Football & Basketball teams included).
Finally in 2014 came yet another iteration known as "The Claw" featuring three sharp claws coming out from behind Bucky's head symbolizing determination & resilience during hard times - something every true fan can relate to! As you can see throughout these various designs there are subtle changes made but overall they remain consistent enough for fans everywhere to recognize them instantly when they appear anywhere associated with Montana State University Athletics programs regardless if those are online platforms such as social media accounts or physical places like stadiums/arenas etc.
With so many different versions available now for fans everywhere we hope everyone continues enjoying these amazing symbols associated with our beloved Bobcats here at 'Montana State University!'
