Tigers Alternate Logo
The LSU Tigers alternate logo has a long and storied history that dates back to the 1930s. The original design featured an outline of Louisiana with two tiger stripes running through it, symbolizing the university's connection to its home state. Over time, this iconic logo has evolved into one of college sports' most recognizable symbols.
In 1972, LSU redesigned its logo with a more modern look that included both purple and gold colors as well as bolder lettering for "LSU". This new version was used until 1994 when another update was made featuring a fierce-looking Bengal Tiger in full color along with updated typography for “Tigers” and “Louisiana State University” on either side of it. The current iteration is similar but features an even more detailed illustration of the tiger which debuted in 1999.
Today, whether you're attending class or cheering on your team at Tiger Stadium, you'll find LSU's iconic alternate logos proudly displayed around campus and throughout Baton Rouge - reminding everyone what it means to be part of such an amazing school! From its humble beginnings all those years ago up until now –the story behind these beloved symbols will continue to live on forever in Tiger Nation!
