Golden Flashes Alternate Logo
The Kent State Golden Flashes have a long and storied history when it comes to their alternate logos. The university first adopted the Golden Flash logo in 1972, which featured an outline of a golden lightning bolt with two red stripes running through it. This logo was used until 1984 when they unveiled their new design featuring the head of a golden eagle wearing a crown and bearing wings that wrap around its body. This version remained in use until 1999 when they introduced another updated design featuring just the head of an eagle with its wings spread wide open behind it.
In 2004, Kent State decided to go back to basics by reviving its original 1972 lightning bolt logo for use as an alternate mark on some apparel items such as t-shirts and hats. The school continued using this look for several years before introducing yet another redesign in 2009: this time incorporating both elements from previous designs—the eagle’s head along with the lightning bolt—into one cohesive image that is still used today by fans all over campus (and beyond!).
One thing has remained consistent throughout all these changes: each iteration has been created specifically for NCAA Division I athletics teams at Kent State University; no other college or professional sports team can claim ownership over these unique marks! As part of its commitment to maintaining excellence on both academic and athletic levels, KSU continues striving towards creating even more memorable visuals associated with its beloved mascot – so stay tuned!
