Horned Frogs Wordmark Logo
The TCU Horned Frogs have a long and storied history, dating back to the early 1900s when they were first established as the AddRan Male & Female College. Since then, their mascot has gone through several iterations before finally settling on the iconic horned frog logo that is so widely associated with them today. The current wordmark logo was designed in 2003 by TCU alumnus Barry Buxkamper and features an interlocking “TCU” set against a navy blue background. The design reflects both modernity and tradition; it honors TCU’s past while also embracing its forward-looking attitude toward education.
The original version of this wordmark featured two white stripes along either side of “TCU” to represent Texas Christian University's school colors - purple and white - but this was later changed to one solid stripe in order to better reflect the university's commitment towards sustainability initiatives such as using fewer resources for printing materials like stationary or promotional items. This change also allows for more flexibility when designing merchandise featuring variations on this classic design that is still clearly identifiable as representing Texas Christian University Horned Frog athletics teams or spirit groups alike!
In addition, there have been various versions of other logos released over time that feature different elements such as frogs facing each other inside a circle or even just one single-horned frog standing alone without any text at all! While these designs may not be quite as recognizable compared to their simpler counterparts, they serve an important purpose: providing fans with creative ways express support for their favorite team beyond just wearing apparel featuring traditional logos like those found on hats or t-shirts! Altogether these designs make up what we now know today –the beloved symbol of pride for all who proudly proclaim themselves members of #FrogNation: Go Frogs!!
