The Tarleton State Texans have been a proud member of the NCAA since 2017, and their iconic wordmark logo has become an integral part of their identity. The logo was designed by former student-athlete and current graphic designer Terence “TJ” Johnson in 2016 to capture the spirit of Tarleton athletics.

The design features an all-caps font with bold lettering reminiscent of classic Western typography, symbolizing the school’s Texas roots. In addition to its distinctive typeface, two other vital elements make up this memorable mark: a starburst pattern that evokes images associated with Texas cultures, such as longhorns and cowboy boots, plus a shield shape that represents strength and protection for athletes competing under its banner.

Since it first debuted in 2016, this eye-catching logo has come to embody what it means to be part of the Texan family - courage, resilience, tradition - while highlighting Tarleton's commitment to excellence both on and off the field/court/track, etc. It's no wonder why so many fans proudly sport gear featuring this beloved emblem!
