Redhawks Wordmark Logo

The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks have a long and storied history, dating back to the early 1900s. The school's wordmark logo is one of the most recognizable symbols in college sports, representing not only the university but also its athletic programs.

In 1929, Miami introduced its first official wordmark logo for all of its teams: “Miami Ohio” written in white with a red background. This iconic design has remained largely unchanged since then – although it has been tweaked slightly over time – and continues to be used today by both fans and athletes alike as an expression of pride for their beloved school.

Throughout much of the 20th century, Miami continued to use this same basic design on everything from uniforms to merchandise items such as t-shirts and hats. However, when NCAA rules changed in 2002 requiring schools to register trademarks for any logos that were used commercially or publicly displayed outside campus grounds; they decided it was time for an update that would better reflect their modern image while still maintaining some traditional elements from past designs.

In 2004 they unveiled a new look that featured bolder lettering along with two interlocking M's at either end - one facing leftwards towards victory whilst the other looks rightwards signifying courage & strength - thus creating what we now know as 'The Block M'. This instantly became popular amongst students & alumni alike who proudly display this symbol across various fan apparel including jerseys & flags whenever attending games or cheering on teams during tournaments!

Despite having gone through several iterations over years due to changes in regulations/requirements set forth by governing bodies such NCAA; ultimately every version shares common underlying theme: showcasing spirit and unity between players coaches staff members supporters etc... All these factors combined make the famous 'Block' emblem synonymous with excellence quality success throughout collegiate athletics world!
