Shockers Wordmark Logo

The Wichita State Shockers have had a long history of success in athletics, and their iconic wordmark logo has been a part of that legacy for over three decades. The original WSU Shockers logo was designed by graphic designer Tom Schleiter in 1986. It featured the letter “W” with an orange lightning bolt shooting through it, signifying the power and energy associated with the team’s name. Since then, there have been several variations on this design to reflect changes or additions to school colors or mascot names throughout its history.

In 2014, Wichita State University unveiled a new version of its wordmark logo which included minor tweaks such as changing from black-and-white to full color and adding more detail around the edges of each lettering element within it; but overall kept much resemblance to its predecessor while still staying true to what made it so recognizable all these years: strong bold letters that demand attention when seen anywhere they are displayed!
