Wildcats Wordmark Logo
The Kansas State Wildcats have a long and storied history, dating back to the late 1800s. The school's iconic wordmark logo has been an integral part of that legacy for over a century. In its current form, the logo features two bold capital letters - K and S - set in blue against a white background. This distinctive design has become synonymous with the university's athletic teams and is instantly recognizable by fans around the country.
The origin of this particular version of the Wildcats' wordmark can be traced back to 1968 when it was designed by graphic artist Joe Bosack Jr., who worked at Kansas State University from 1967-1973 as their art director for athletics publications and advertising services. Since then, it has served as both an official symbol of school pride as well as being printed on countless pieces of merchandise ranging from t-shirts to coffee mugs; even appearing on some apparel worn by players during games!
Today, almost 50 years after its initial conception, this beloved piece of Wildcat history still stands proud atop various buildings across campus while also continuing to serve proudly alongside other popular logos such as "PowerCat" or "KSU." It is truly remarkable how one simple design can evoke so much emotion among alumni members & supporters alike – making it undoubtedly one of college sports’ most iconic symbols!
