Great Danes Wordmark Logo

The Albany Great Danes are a famous college sports team that has been around for decades. As such, they have had many different wordmark logos throughout their history. Today, we will look at the evolution of their logo and how it has changed over time.

The earliest version of the Albany Great Danes logo was introduced in 1982 when they first joined NCAA Division I athletics as part of the North Atlantic Conference (now known as America East). This original design featured two stylized “D”s facing each other with an interlocking pattern between them to form a shield shape. The colors used were royal blue and white, still used today on all official merchandise and apparel for fans to purchase or wear during games.

In 2006, there was an update made to this original design, which included removing some elements from the previous version while keeping others intact, such as its overall shape and color palette, but adding new details like stars along with text reading “Albany Great Danes” above it all written in script font style instead of block letters seen before then; this gave off more modern feel yet kept traditional aspects alive too!

By 2012, further changes were made, including swapping out those stars for two paw prints – one on either side – plus changing up both lettering styles again, so now only upper-case letters remain but still scripted just slightly differently than before, giving us the current look we know today: bolder typeface combined with softer curves creating perfect balance between classic & contemporary aesthetics!
