Panthers Wordmark Logo

The Northern Iowa Panthers have a rich history of success, both on and off the field. From winning NCAA Division I championships in football to making deep runs in men's basketball tournaments, the Panthers have been a force to be reckoned with for decades. As part of their legacy, they've also had some iconic logos that are instantly recognizable by fans across the country. The most well-known logo is undoubtedly their wordmark logo which features an intimidating black panther head surrounded by bold white lettering spelling out "Northern Iowa."

This particular logo was first introduced back in 1995 when it was featured on all team uniforms and merchandise as well as being displayed prominently around campus buildings such as UNI-Dome (now known simply as Dome). It quickly became one of college sports' most beloved logos due to its unique design and powerful symbolism associated with it - namely strength and power. Since then, minor tweaks have been made over time but overall this classic look has remained largely unchanged since its inception nearly 25 years ago!

Over recent years though there has been an increased focus from UNI Athletics on modernizing certain aspects while still remaining true to tradition – something which can clearly be seen through their new wordmark update released earlier this year (2020). This new version features updated font styles along with more intricate details within the Panther’s head itself – giving it a much more contemporary feel compared to previous iterations yet still maintaining that same sense of strength & courage synonymous with Northern Iowa athletics!

Overall, there is no denying that Northern Iowa's wordmark logo holds tremendous significance for both current students/athletes at UNI along those who came before them – providing not only visual representation but also inspiration & motivation towards achieving greatness each day no matter what challenges may come your way.
