Lobos Wordmark Logo

The University of New Mexico Lobos has a long and storied history, dating back to the 1890s. Throughout that time, the school has had many different logos and wordmarks associated with its athletic teams. One of the most iconic is their current NCAA logo: an aggressive Lobo head snarling in front of a red background.

This logo was first introduced in 1975 as part of an overall rebranding effort by then-athletic director Rudy Davalos. The goal was to create a more unified look for all UNM sports teams while also providing something that could be easily recognized by fans across all levels – from college students to professional athletes alike.

Since then, this classic design has become synonymous with New Mexico Lobos athletics; it’s been used on everything from uniforms and apparel to banners at games and other promotional materials over the years (including being featured on ESPN's College GameDay). It’s even been adapted into several alternate versions such as those featuring Native American imagery or special holiday designs like Christmas trees or snowmen!

While there may have been changes made along the way (such as altering colors slightly), one thing remains constant: no matter what form it takes, this powerful symbol will always represent UNM's proud tradition of excellence both on and off the field/court/track, etc. Whether you're cheering them on during March Madness or just showing your support around campus - make sure you do so proudly wearing their timeless logo!
