Fighting Hawks Wordmark Logo

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks have a rich history of success and pride, reflected in their iconic wordmark logo. The original version of the logo was designed in 1999 by former UND athletics director Don Larson. It featured the words “North Dakota” written in an arching font with a hawk perched atop it. This symbolized the strength and power of being part of such a fantastic university and representing all those associated with UND throughout its long history.

Since then, there have been several variations on this classic design over time to reflect changes within both college sports and at UND itself. In 2011, for example, they introduced a new version featuring bolder fonts that better represented their competitive spirit while maintaining familiarity for fans around campus and beyond!

In 2018, they unveiled another update to further modernize their look by adding more vibrant colors and sharper lines to create a stronger sense of energy surrounding the brand identity. This move has since become synonymous with Fighting Hawks fandom everywhere! And most recently, this year (2021), they made yet another change: introducing gold into their palette alongside red, white & blue, giving them even more standout appeal amongst other collegiate teams across America today!

So whether you’re cheering from home or attending games live on campus—you can feel proud knowing your team has always stayed true to its roots while also embracing fresh ideas when needed…all thanks largely due credit back towards Mr Larson's original vision way back when he first created what we now know & love today - The North Dakota Fighting Hawk Wordmark Logo!!!
