The Wright State Raiders have a long and proud history of excellence in athletics, and the team's wordmark logo has been an integral part of that success. The original Raiders' logo was introduced in 1987 when the school changed its name from Miami-Jacobs Junior College to Wright State University. The original design featured a shield with two crossed swords, symbolizing strength, power, and protection for those wearing it.

In 1998, the university unveiled a new wordmark logo featuring its signature "WSU" initials inside an oval shape surrounded by gold trimming on either side. This version quickly became popular among students and fans due to its modern look while maintaining elements of tradition from previous designs. Over time, this version would become known simply as "the W."

As time passed, minor changes were made to keep up with changing trends, such as updating colors or adding additional text around the edge. Still, it remained unchanged until 2013 when they unveiled another redesign, including more detailed graphics and bolder fonts that gave it a more significant digital and physical presence than ever at Wright State University Athletics events or merchandise stores across campus grounds.

Today’s Raider Wordmark Logo is instantly recognizable amongst sports fans all over Ohio thanks to its memorable design, which features dark blue lettering against a white background outlined by black borders, giving off strong vibes of pride throughout every game day experience whether you’re cheering for your favorite team at home or away!
