Golden Hurricane Wordmark Logo

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane wordmark logo has a long and storied history. It dates all the way back to when the school was founded in 1895 as Henry Kendall College. The original crest featured an interlocking “T” and “K” for Tulsa and Kendall, respectively, along with two crossed swords beneath it. This design was used until 1924 when a new shield-style logo replaced it featuring two lightning bolts shooting out of either side of an orange circle with white trimming around it.

In 1969, another redesign took place which saw the introduction of what is now known as the classic Tulsa Golden Hurricane wordmark logo that we know today; this version features bold capitalized letters spelling out TULSA above GOLDEN HURRICANE written in italics below it – both words are set against a black background outlined by gold trimming on either side for added contrast. Since then, slight modifications have been made to modernize its look such as changing up font styles or adding different colors but overall its core design remains unchanged from what first debuted over 50 years ago!

Today this iconic symbol can be seen everywhere from university apparel stores to athletic fields throughout Oklahoma – not only does this mark represent pride amongst current students but also serves as a reminder for alumni who once called themselves members of one united team: The University Of Tulsa's very own golden hurricane!
