Rebels Wordmark Logo

The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels have been a part of the NCAA since 1968, and their iconic wordmark logo has been an integral part of their identity ever since. The UNLV Rebels wordmark logo was first introduced in 1972 as a strong, bold statement that represented the school’s new commitment to athletics. Since then, it has become synonymous with excellence in college sports and is one of the most recognizable logos in all collegiate sports.

Over its history, there have been several iterations and variations on the design for this classic logo—each designed to capture both tradition and innovation while representing UNLV’s athletic spirit. In 1996, for instance, designer Michael Bierut gave it a modern facelift by introducing elements such as curved lettering that emphasized movement; he also added white outlines around each letter to make them stand out against any background color or texture used when displaying them together on apparel or other merchandise items like banners or flags.
