Purple Aces Wordmark Logo
The Evansville Purple Aces have a long and storied history that is reflected in their iconic wordmark logo. The school’s original colors were purple and white, which are still represented today in the team's current logo. The first version of the logo was created in 1925 by then-athletic director John J. “Jack” Kiefer, who used an old English font to create the name "Purple Aces." This design has been tweaked over time but remains largely unchanged since its inception nearly 100 years ago!
The Purple Aces' mascot is Ace Purple, a knight wearing armor with wings on his back. He was introduced as part of a larger rebranding effort for Evansville athletics prior to joining the NCAA Division I competition in the 1977–78 season. Since then, Ace has become synonymous with both school spirit and success as he often appears at athletic events cheering on his beloved team!
In addition to being one of only two schools (the other being Duke) that uses purple as its primary color scheme throughout all sports teams' uniforms and logos; this unique branding also serves another purpose: it helps differentiate them from other universities within their conference or nationally when competing against each other for championships or recruiting athletes/coaches alike!
This iconic wordmark Logo not only represents decades' worth of tradition but also embodies what it means to be an Evansville student athlete – hard work & determination paired together make up our culture here at UE Athletics Department where we strive towards excellence every day through dedication & commitment towards achieving greatness no matter how big or small our goals may be…And if there ever come times when things don't go according to plan? We just keep pushing forward until they do because #WeAreAceNation!!
