Rattlers Wordmark Logo

The Florida A&M Rattlers have a long and proud history of athletic excellence. Their wordmark logo is an important part of that legacy, representing the spirit and strength of their teams. The original logo was designed in 1975 by university staff members as a way to show school pride for the football team. It featured two crossed rattlesnakes set against an orange background with “Florida A&M” written above it in white letters. This design has been tweaked over time but remains largely unchanged since its inception more than 40 years ago, making it one of the most recognizable logos in college sports today.

In 2003, after joining NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS), Florida A&M decided to update their look by introducing new uniforms with bolder colors and updated logos on them including their iconic wordmark logo which now included "Rattlers" beneath "Florida A & M". Since then this version has become synonymous with FAMU athletics across all sports from basketball to baseball and everything else they offer at FAMU Athletics Department.

Today's generation can be proud that when they wear or display any item featuring this classic symbol, they are not only showing support for current athletes but also honoring decades' worth of alumni who proudly wore these same symbols while competing under the banner of Florida AM University. Through thick or thin, the Rattler Wordmark Logo will remain forever intertwined into our great institution's rich history as we continue striving towards greatness both on the field/court & off!
