Rattlers Primary Logo
The Florida A&M Rattlers have a long and proud history of athletic success. The school’s primary logo has been an integral part of the team’s identity since its inception in 1887. Over the years, it has evolved to reflect both changing tastes and technological advancements in design, but one thing remains constant: the Rattler is still a powerful symbol for FAMU athletics.
The original logo featured a simple drawing of two rattlesnakes intertwined with each other on top of an orange ball, which was meant to represent the sun setting over Tallahassee—the home city for Florida A&M University (FAMU). This version served as FAMU's official emblem until 2000 when it was updated using computer graphics technology to make it more detailed and vibrant. Since then, several minor adjustments have been made such as adding shading or making subtle changes in the color scheme; however, none are drastic enough that they would be unrecognizable from their predecessor logos.
In addition to being used by all sports teams at FAMU today, this iconic image can also be found adorning merchandise sold across North America through NCAA-licensed vendors like Fanatics or Lids Sports Group—a testament not only to how popularly recognized this logo is among fans but also how far-reaching its influence has become within college athletics circles over time! As we enter into another season full of hope for our beloved Rattlers let us remember what makes them so special: their strong sense of tradition embodied by the primary logo that stands proudly beside them every step along the way!
