Chippewas Wordmark Logo
Central Michigan Chippewas is a college football team located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The school's wordmark logo has been around since the late 1970s and has undergone several changes throughout the years.
The original Central Michigan Chippewas logo was created in 1978 by graphic designer William Bauchop Wilson Jr., who also designed logos for other major universities such as the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Stanford University. This iconic design featured a Native American chief wearing a traditional headdress with crossed tomahawks behind him, along with “CMC” written across his chest to represent Central Michigan Chippewas.
In 1997, CMU decided to update its branding which included changing its primary athletics mark from a Chief-based design to one that incorporated more modern elements while still maintaining its connection to CMU’s history and traditions. This new version kept much of Wilson Jr.'s original concept but replaced it with an updated illustration featuring a muscular Native American warrior figure standing tall atop two crossed tomahawks as well as an interlocking CMC monogram at his feet - all set on top of a large shield shape background representing strength and protection for those who wear it proudly!
The current version of this beloved logo was introduced back in 2011 when CMU joined forces with Nike Incorporated – giving them access to some high-quality graphics tools that allowed them to create even more detailed versions than before! As you can see here today, this latest iteration features intricate details like feather textures on both sides of the warrior figure's headdress; subtle shading effects throughout; plus bolder color choices including bright red accents & metallic gold outlines – making for one truly powerful visual representation our proud university & its athletic teams!
It goes without saying that Central Michigans' wordmark Logo is not only part of our rich heritage but also serves as a reminder of why we should always strive towards greatness no matter what challenges life throws our way - Go Chips!!
