Bearcats Wordmark Logo

The Binghamton Bearcats have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, and their iconic wordmark logo has been an integral part of that success. The original Bearcat logo was introduced in the late 1980s as part of a rebranding effort to give the school's teams more identity. Since then, it has become one of the most recognizable logos in college sports.

The original design featured two white “B” letters side by side with a black bear cub between them, representing strength and agility—two traits essential for any successful athlete or team. Over time, this classic design evolved into its current form: two red “B”s with white outlining on either side along with three stars above them to represent each branch of service supported by Binghamton University (Army ROTC, Navy ROTC & Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps).

In recent years, minor tweaks have been made to refine the look further, such as adding shading behind each letter or changing fonts used for different applications like uniforms or apparel designs. Still, it remains unchanged from its inception over 30 years ago!

As fans, we can take pride in knowing our beloved mascot is represented so well through this timeless piece of art – no matter what sport you follow at Binghamton, everything returns to our beloved Bearcat!
