Cavaliers Wordmark Logo

The Virginia Cavaliers wordmark logo has been around since the early 1900s and is one of the most recognizable logos in college sports. The original logo was created by a student at the University of Virginia, who drew it for a school newspaper contest. It featured an orange "V" with black outlining, representing victory and strength. Over time, this design became more complex as additional symbols were added to represent different aspects of university life, such as school colors, mascots, and traditions.

In 1976, when UVA joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), they officially adopted their current wordmark logo featuring three interlocking V’s that form an “A” shape representing unity between students and alumni alike - something still seen today on all official merchandise from t-shirts to hats! This iconic symbol has been used consistently throughout UVA's history. Still, its meaning remains unchanged: loyalty among those affiliated with or supporting Virginia athletics no matter what part of campus they come from or how long ago they graduated!

Today you can find this beloved Cavaliers Wordmark Logo everywhere on campus, whether printed onto apparel worn by fans during games or displayed proudly within buildings across grounds - reminding everyone just how much pride we have in our team!
