Highlanders Wordmark Logo

The NJIT Highlanders wordmark logo has been a symbol of excellence in NCAA athletics for over two decades. The iconic design, which features the school’s name written in bold black lettering with a white outline and an orange accent color, is instantly recognizable to fans across the country. While it may be one of the most recognizable logos in Division I sports today, its history goes back much further than that.

In 1997, NJIT adopted its current wordmark logo as part of a larger branding effort by then-Athletic Director Bill Harkins. Prior to this changeover from their previous “NJIT” script logo style (which had been used since 1979), Harkins wanted something more modern and eye-catching that would appeal to potential recruits and future students alike; thus was born what we now know as the Highlanders wordmark logo! It quickly became associated with success on both athletic fields and courts throughout New Jersey Institute of Technology's history - including multiple NCAA Tournament appearances over subsequent years - cementing itself into Highlander lore forevermore.

Today, this classic design remains largely unchanged from when it first debuted almost 25 years ago: simple yet powerful enough to capture attention while still conveying all necessary information about who they are – proud members of NJIT Athletics! With each passing season comes another opportunity for these athletes (and fans!) To show off their Highlander pride through wearing apparel featuring this timeless emblem; after all…it wouldn't be an official game day without seeing at least one fan proudly sporting some form or variation thereof!
