Highlanders Primary Logo

The NJIT Highlanders have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, and their primary logo has been with them since the beginning. The original logo was created in 1981 when the university first began its NCAA Division I membership. It featured a simple “NJ” monogram, which stood for New Jersey Institute of Technology, as well as an image of two crossed swords to represent strength and power. Over time this basic design has evolved into something much more complex that also includes elements such as a shield-like shape behind the swords to signify protection from opponents, along with various colors used throughout to create contrast between lightness and darkness within one unified whole.
