Cornhuskers Wordmark Logo

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have had a long and storied history with their wordmark logo. The first iteration of the logo was introduced in 1959, featuring a cartoon-style husker head wearing an old-fashioned football helmet. This original design is still used today as part of the official school colors and mascot logos for various athletic teams at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

In 2003, to honor its tradition while also modernizing its look, the university unveiled an updated version of its iconic wordmark logo that featured a more realistic husker illustration with sharper details than before. The new version also included additional elements such as stars to represent each conference title won by Nebraska's men's basketball team since it joined Big Ten Conference play in the 2011-2012 season.

Today’s current version includes both traditional elements from previous designs along with some modern touches like bolder typeface fonts and brighter color hues that are meant to make it stand out on any surface or apparel item it appears on – whether digital or physical media alike! It has become one of college sports' most recognizable marks due in no small part to how much pride Nebraskans take when they see this symbol representing their beloved Cornhuskers everywhere they go!
