Wildcats Wordmark Logo

The Arizona Wildcats wordmark logo has a long and proud history. It is one of the most recognizable logos in college sports, and it has been used by the University of Arizona since 1983. The original design was created by former UA president John Schaefer, who wanted to create a unique identity for the university's athletic teams that would stand out from other schools in the Pac-10 conference.

The first version of the logo featured an aggressive wildcat head facing forward with its eyes closed, surrounded by two concentric circles which contained "Arizona" written above it and "Wildcats" written below it. This classic design quickly became popular among fans as they identified with its strength and determination while also recognizing their school’s spirit animal ––the Wildcat! Over time this iconic image remained intact but minor changes were made to enhance certain aspects such as more vibrant colors or sharper lines on some parts of text or graphics elements like stars around “Arizona” lettering etc., making sure that even after decades passed people still recognize this mark when they see it anywhere today!

Today, you can find variations on apparel items such as t-shirts or hats; however regardless of how much time passes -or what new trends come about- there will always be something special about seeing those two words together: “Arizona Wildcats” because no matter where you are from everyone knows what these symbols stand for unity & pride!
