Seahawks Wordmark Logo
The Wagner Seahawks have a long and storied history, and their wordmark logo is no exception. The original design was created in the late 1950s by then-athletic director Joe Kearney. It featured an interlocking “WS” with a stylized seahawk perched atop it. This classic design has been used ever since, although there have been some minor modifications over the years to keep up with changing trends in sports logos.
In 2006, the university gave its beloved logo an update for its 50th-anniversary celebration of being adopted as Wagner's official mascot, symbolizing strength and courage on behalf of all students at Wagner College. The updated look included more modern typography that retained elements from the original version while giving it a fresh new feel for current fans to enjoy.
Today, this iconic wordmark can be seen throughout campus on everything from t-shirts to hats; however, its most prominent location is undoubtedly inside Hameline Field—the home stadium of our beloved Seahawks football team! Whether you're cheering them on or just wearing your favorite piece of apparel proudly around town, take pride in knowing that this timeless tradition began at our alma mater!
