Aggies Wordmark Logo

The Utah State Aggies have a long and storied history that dates back to the late 19th century. As one of the oldest college teams in the United States, they’ve had plenty of time to develop their unique identity and brand. A key part of this is their wordmark logo, which has gone through several iterations over the years as it evolved with changing times.

The first iteration was created in 1895 when Utah Agricultural College (now known as Utah State University) adopted its first official emblem - an “A” surrounded by laurel leaves with a star at each corner. This design served for nearly 50 years until it was updated in 1944 to reflect more modern sensibilities while still maintaining its classic look. The new version featured a bolder typeface and larger stars along with two additional points on each side giving it an octagonal shape that remains today; however, some elements were removed such as laurels surrounding “Aggies” text below or within the circle around ‘UAC' initials above.

In 1971 another update occurred where all lettering was changed from italicized serif font style into sans-serif block letters which gave the logo a more contemporary feel without losing any traditional aspects like overall shape or colors – blue & white being the school's official colors since 1897 when the university became a member of NCAA Division I athletics program. Since then only minor adjustments were made including slight modifications color palette 2013 season but the original core design stayed intact throughout the decades making the USU wordmark one most recognizable logos among colleges across the country.

Today USU continues to use the same iconic branding mark representing the institution's heritage spirit and pride both on the field and off no matter what challenges the future may bring them even if there are changes needed to keep up with the latest trends these will always remain cornerstone Aggie Athletics tradition!
