Red Raiders Wordmark Logo

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a long and storied history, stretching back to the 1920s. The school's iconic wordmark logo has been around since that time, but it has undergone several changes over the years. From its original design in 1925 to its current iteration in 2020, the Texas Tech Red Raiders logo is an integral part of college sports culture and university pride.

The first version of this classic wordmark was created by student Fred Eaves for use on athletic uniforms during his senior year at Texas Tech University in 1925. This original design featured a bold red “T” with two crossed swords beneath it as well as two stars above it – one representing each state where TTU had campuses (Texas and New Mexico). In 1949, another redesign was undertaken which gave us what we know today: block-style lettering with three interlocking T’s forming an arch across the top portion of text while leaving room for other words or symbols underneath them (such as “Red Raiders”).

Today's version still retains most elements from earlier designs including those three interlocking T's along with red coloring throughout; however, some minor tweaks have been made such as adding more detail to certain parts like making sure all letters are properly spaced out evenly within their respective boxes or giving each letter more weight so they appear larger than before when viewed up close. Additionally, there is now also an alternate black-and-white variant that can be used depending on context/application needs - something not seen until recently! All together these small adjustments help keep this timeless symbol looking modern yet recognizable no matter how far into future generations may go!
