Bison Wordmark Logo

The Bucknell Bison have a long and storied history in the NCAA, dating back to their first season in 1883. Throughout this time, some iconic logos have become synonymous with the school's athletic program. One of those is their wordmark logo, which has been used for decades to represent Bucknell's commitment to excellence in the field and court.

The original version of this logo was introduced during the 1970s when it became clear that students wanted something more modern than what had been used previously by teams such as football or basketball. The design featured two large white capital letters “B” at either end, with an orange stripe running horizontally across its center line. This combination was meant to represent not only strength but also passion—something that has always been associated with sports at Bucknell University over its long history.

In 2017, after many years without any changes being made to it, the university decided it needed an update, so they enlisted local graphic designer Jeff Schmoyer, who created a new look for them while still keeping true to what makes up part of their identity: intense yet passionate athletics. He kept much from the original design, including using two sizeable bold letters and incorporating elements like stars and stripes into his creation, providing even more symbolism about patriotism in college sports.

Overall, this new wordmark logo looks excellent on all apparel-related items such as t-shirts, hats, etc., ensuring everyone knows precisely whose team you're rooting for no matter where you go!
