Bearkats Wordmark Logo

The Sam Houston State Bearkats wordmark logo is one of the most recognizable logos in college sports. The distinctive font and bold colors make it instantly recognizable to any fan of NCAA athletics. Since its inception, the logo has been a symbol of pride for both students and alumni alike, representing their school's long-standing history with success on the field as well as in academics.

The current version of this iconic logo was introduced back in 1994 when Sam Houston State University joined NCAA Division I Athletics. It features an aggressive Bearkat head surrounded by a shield shape along with “Sam Houston” written above and “Bearkats” below it all within two concentric circles at either end – creating a powerful graphic that embodies strength, courage, determination, and resilience - core values held dear by everyone associated with SHSU Athletics!

Since then, this timeless design has become synonymous with excellence across all levels within collegiate athletics; from student-athletes to coaches & staff members alike – they have proudly worn or displayed this emblem throughout their time spent at SHSU!
