The Herd Primary Logo
The Marshall Thundering Herd is a college football team with a long and storied history. As part of that history, the school has had several primary logos over the years, each one unique in its own way. In this blog post, we'll take a look at the various primary logos of Marshall's past and present to get an understanding of how they have evolved over time.
The earliest logo used by Marshall was created in 1936 when they first became known as The Thundering Herd. This logo featured an image of two crossed swords with lightning bolts above them set against a shield-shaped background featuring two crossed thunderbolts outlined in green on either side. This design represented strength and power while still maintaining some classic elements from heraldry symbols associated with medieval knights such as swords and shields which were popular during that era for sports teams across America.
In 1967, Marshall changed their primary logo to feature more modern designs along with updated colors including red instead of green for their main color scheme combined alongside white accents throughout different parts like lettering or borders around shapes within it. The new design also included three stars arranged into a triangle shape above the words “Marshall” written out below them all being contained within another shield-shaped border colored red on top fading down into yellow at the bottom half giving it a somewhat gradient effect overall.
Throughout decades since then there have been few changes made but nothing drastic until recently when the university decided completely revamp the current version making the most noticeable change by switching up colors so now only features a blue & gold combination both inside and outside the perimeter surrounding the entire thing which gives a much cleaner look than before plus adding details like a small lightning bolt coming off side star symbolizing thunder clap sound heard whenever the team scores touchdown field game day events alike!
Overall these various versions represent the evolution culture behind the program itself starting from its humble beginnings back in 1936 and continuing today even after many modifications through the years remain same core values were instilled by everyone involved whether players coaches fans alumni alike: Strength Power Pride!
